About Taking the Notes
Mechanism to Remind Myself to Be in "Output" Mode
Verum Ipsum Factum. (We only know what we make.)
- Giambattista Vico, 18th-century philosopher
I often get caught in overthinking, making it difficult to start implementing ideas. This tendency traps me in "Input" mode, where I consume information but don't produce anything. Simply telling myself "not to think too much" or "avoid perfectionism" doesn't work. Writing things down, even just making rough notes or initial drafts, is a practical way to shift into "Output" mode. It helps me break the cycle of overthinking and start creating.
Using Tools to Help Link Knowledge and Foster Action
Creativity and breakthroughs come from connecting things that were previously unconnected(The Art of Improvement, 2020)1. However, human working memory is limited(Miller, 1956)2, and we can only process a finite amount of information at a time. Additionally, the context in which we retrieve information influences our ability to generate ideas. Therefore, using tools to overcome these limitations is crucial. For me, taking notes and using tools like Obsidian to link ideas is an effective method to foster creativity and action.Aligning with My Core Values and OKRs
One of my core values ruled in my Periodic Note 3 is continuous learning, encapsulated by the phrase: "No start, no end, only doing." Learning is an end in itself and is worth pursuing even if there isn't an immediate benefit. Practicing this value means: I am happy to share my knowledge with others and regularly create content.P.S. This content was produced in collaboration with ChatGPT. View prompt in references.4
